CORONATION OAK GROVE
PLANTED IN WINDSOR PARK
EMPIRE DELEGATES TAKE PART
LONDON, June 19
(Received June 20, at 6.30 p.m.)
An unprecedented ceremony, at which all parts of the Empire were represented, took place when an oak grove of 60 trees to commemorate the Coronation was planted in Windsor Great Park, opposite the Royal Lodge, their Majesties' country home. Each tree was planted in a position corresponding to the geographical position of an Empire country, represented in its relation to Britain. Their Majesties and Princess Elizabeth and Princess Margaret Rose shook hands with the Empire representatives, after which the King shovelled the earth round the first tree. Then the Home Secretary (Sir Samuel Hoare) planted the United Kingdom tree, Mr M J. Savage the New Zealand tree, and Mr "tanley Bruce the Australian tree.
Their Majesties later entertained the Empir< representatives at tea.
