BRITAIN AND AMERICA
PROPOSED TRADE PACT REACTIONS OF DOMINIONS LONDON, June 8. The projected Anglo-American trade pact, with the reactions of the dominions, burst into British politics this afternoon. More than 100 of the 300 members of the House of Commons and the Empire Industries Association held an emergency meeting at the House of Commons, and more than bluntly hinted to the Government that any AngloAmerican trade pact must not damage Britain's interest of Imperial preference. Brigadier-general Sir Henry Page Croft presided. The meeting, which was private, unanimously passed a resolution "emphatically objecting to any action in anywise interfering with the fuller development or even weakening the present effectiveness of the domestic and Imperial tariff system, or sacrificing Home or Empire production for the sake of some illusory project for the revival of economic internationalism."
