NEW PREMISES
OTAGO MOTORS, LTD. With a frontage of 78 feet 6in, the new building now occupied by the Otago Motors, Ltd., in Princes street south, represents one of the most up-to-date premises of its kind in Dunedin, the modern fittings and appointments illustrating the ever-changing ideas of the architect and the designer. From the outside, the bottom along the front of the building has been laid out in the new English blue Vitrolite, which, combined with the nickelplated fittings, give the premises an attractive appearance. The walls of the showroom have been done in roughcast relieved here and there by pointed clinker bricks, and the floor is of cement, which, on account of special treatment, is expected to produce a bright red surface within the next two months. Standing in the middle of the showroom there is a separate compartment styled the accessory room, the walls and door of whioh have been panelled in figured walnut of attractive design and highly polished. Modern offices for the commercial staff are on the same floor as the showroom. A particular feature of the interior of the offices is the sliding wooden cupboards in which various books and miscellaneous articles can be kept with safety. Upstairs is where the repairs to vehicles will be carried out, a straight run in for cars being obtained from the Carroll street entrance. Two sets of skylights in addition to five separate sets of windows provide adequate light for the workmen, whose general conditions for carrying out their duties leave little to be desired. Stocks of spare parts will be kept upstairs, while downstairs in the showroom accessories v/ill be set out and displayed in a manner similar to the methods employed by many of the town's bie shops. No expense has been spared in the finishings, the staircase having a mahogany rail, and the ladies' waiting room being furnished in a comfortable and artistic fashion.
