HOUSE IN RUINS

WOMAN'S UNPLEASAm* SURPRISE (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 9. To find smoke-blackened bedding' and badly scorched furniture piled on the front lawn and a house with five rooms burned out was the experience of Mrs A. L. Taylor, of Richardson road, Mount Albert, when she returned from the racea to-night. While she was away a fira had swept through the house, causing part of it to collapse and severely damaging the front portion. Smoke rising from the back of the house was seen by so many people that an alarm was given three times, and brigades from fiva districts answered the call. Tha house, which was owned by Mrs Taylor, was a nine-roomed wooden building. It was insured for £SOO with the South British Office, and the furniture was insured for £ 100.
