MOTOR ACCIDENTS
■ -<»■ DUTY TO INJURED PERSONS COMMENT BY MAGISTRATE (Per United Press Association) NAPIER, May 31. “ I cannot stress too strongly the attitude of motorists towards an injured man,” remarked the magistrate in fining Frank Macovini £2 on a charge of negligent driving arising out of an accident after a dance at Taradale on March 18 last, when a Maori was knocked down and his leg injured. The evidence alleged that the defendant said when requested to take the injured man to hospital: “Let his own drunken friends take him.” The magistrate stated that the defendant’s first duty was to the man. The allegation of negligence had been overwhelmingly proved.
