UNION FUNDS STOLEN
LOCAL SECRETARY’S THEFT gave himself up to police (Per United Press Association) GREYMOUTH, May 31. The theft of £l2, the properly of the New Zealand Workers’ Union, was admitted in the Magistrates Court this morning by Albert Thomas Graham, aged 46, who was employed in the Public Works Department at Stevenson s Flat during February and March The accused was the local secretary of the union, and collected the money as the annual subscriptions from the men in camp. He failed to account for the money and left for Christchurch He returned to Greymouth and gave himself up to the police. He sistcd that the matter was worrying him, and that he had spent most of the money on liquor. „ _ „ . The magistrate (Mr R. Fcrner) admitted the accused to probation for ll months, conditionally on the money being repaid.
