AN APPEAL TO BRITAIN
BY CHINESE NEWSPAPERS NO NEGOTIATION WITH JAPAN (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyrighti LONDON, May 29. (Received May 30, at 11 p.m.) The Times Hongkong correspondent says several Hongkong Chinese newspapers publish an identical leader appealing to Britain not to enter into negotiations with Japan. It is asserted that an Anglo-Japan-ese rapprochement would damage, Sino-British amity, bring Britain into conflict with Russia, estrange Empire sentiment, and affect Britain's security of trade. China, the article says, will maintain her sovereignty at all costs.
