THE FAMOUS CAMPERDOWN CLYDESDALE STUD, Comprising: 7 Registered Clydesdale Mares and Fillies 3 Registered Clydesdale Stallions and Colts This select Stud was founded over 30 years ago, and has a unique record in the quality of the stock it has produced, both as Show winners and from a commercial point of view. Several sales of high figures have been made to local and overseas buyers. CAMPERDOWN COUNTESS, by BARON BOLD, one of the best-known dams of the stud, produced the famous GREAT COUNT, who, as a two-year-old, had an unbroken Show Ring record, including a Royal Championship at this age, and was afterwards exported to Australia at a record price for a New Zealand-bred colt. The above offering are all attractively bred, high-class horses embodying all the characteristics pt the fashionable Clydesdale. The Stud is being dispersed owing to the decease of the late Mr Alex. "If we are going to have any police witnesses in this case, don't call it a 'silent policeman'-—they don't like it," said Mr Justice Callan in the Auckland Supreme Court recently (states the Herald). "I know from experience. Call it a traffic dome." Counsel suggested that the familiar sign was widely known as a " poached egg." " I have been put in my place by a constable for speaking of it as a silent policeman," continued his Honor, smiling. He added that he thought they were quite right to object to the term. As the case proceeded counsel made a determined effort—not always successful—to avoid the use of the questionabl« name.
