QUALITY GOODS
NEW ZEALAND-MADE DISPLAYS The number and variety of the articles exhibited in the shop windows of Dunedin since last Tuesday in connection with the "New Zea-land-made Week" have ( been a revelation to many, and the display has given people an excellent conception of wiiat can be manufactured locally. The opinion that the promoters of the movement and the retailers have risen to the occasion is well deserved, for the effort has attracted a great deal of interest. It is hoped that the essential idea that the manufacturers are trying to spread will be thoroughly learned and will remain in the minds of the people when they do their buying. The quality of the goods has been the subject of much favourable comment, and there should be no doubt that New Zealand-made goods are good buying value. . The movement for countries to support their own industries has grown to an amazing extent in Great Britain and on the Continent. With the. problem of unemployment with which it is faced, it is only natural that in Great Britain such a sentiment should find expression, and the fact that unemployment is on the wane is surely an indication that the movement to support local manufacturers has met with success. In order to help the men in finding employment, the women of the Old Country have formed themselves into a league to support and urge the purchase of the country's goods.
In New Zealand the movement has been taken up by the Manufacturers' Association, which is to be commended for the worthy effort it has made in connection with " Made in New Zealand Week."
