A farewell evening, which was held at Mrs Coster's, was given to Mrs Magon, who is leaving the district, by the members of the Hyde branch of the W.D.F.U. Mrs Ramsay, sen., on behalf of the members, presented her with a crystal salad bowl, and said the division was very sorry to lose' such a popular member, and hoped she would be just as popular in, her new district. Mrs Magon suitably replied. A small item was given by all those present. * * * The roll call for the monthly meeting of the Hilderthorpe branch was "A helpful verse." Mrs M'Latchie presided. Mr J. B. Chapman gave a talk on "Geology for Ladies." The competition for the. best bloom was won by Mrs M'Latchie. The hostesses were Mesdames Bishop and Williams. On May 26, at the residence of Mrs J. M'K. Morgan, was held the monthly meeting of the Cambrian-St. Bathans branch. Two competitions were given, the winners of • one being Mesdames Shaw, Leask, and J. Morgan, and of the other Mrs T. E. Morgan. The hostess was Mrs J. M'K. Morgan. * * #....... The Maniototo branch met in the Ranfurly Hall on Wednesday, the president (Mrs C. Donald) occupying the chair. The motto was " Cheerfulness is like money well expended in charity: the more we dispense the greater our possessions." The roll call was "A cure for chilblains." A travel talk was given by Mrs Shand. In the competition for the best three varieties of jam, first place was awarded to Mrs L. B. Cameron and second to Mrs G. Mathias. The social half-hour included mystery parcels to the value of 6d and "market table." Hostesses were Mesdames Little, C. Hore, Green, and Beattie. * * * The Momona branch met on Thursday evening. An open night was held, and a number attended an instructive lecture given by Mr Cocker on the care of poultry.
