Mrs Jack Dellow, of Waipahi, is the guest of her mother, Mrs Brent, George street.

Mr and Mrs Thomas Sime, who have been visiting Christchurch, have returned to town.

Miss G. Hoddinott, who has been spending a holiday in Auckland and Christchurch, will return to Dunedin to-day.

Mrs Walter Raymond and Miss Doreen Raymond, who are the guests of Sir John Sinclair, will leave on Monday on their return to Timaru.

The Misses MacGregor, who are staying with their sister, Mrs Sandford Cox, will leave on Tuesday for their home in Wellington.

Miss Mollie Morgan has returned to Dunedin. after spending a holiday with Mrs W. P. Morrin, of Teviot Orchard. Roxburgh. * * #

Mrs Stewart Faulks. of i Pembroke, who has been visiting friends in Dunedin, is now the guest of her mother. Mrs W Kennedy, of Invercargill.

Mrs G. M.' Aikman gave a tea party at'the Otago Women's Club yesterday morning in honour of Mrs Robert Ewing". Her other guests were Mesdames Jopp, Hartley, Hogg, Acutt, and Scoular, and Misses Jopp, Black, and Ross.

Mrs W. Garrett will leave on Wednesday to spend a holiday in Christchurch and Ashburton before returning south as far as Timaru to be present at the wedding of Miss Margaret Shand and Mr John Solomon on June 9. Mrs S. Solomon, Mrs David Solomon, and Mrs E. S. Solomon will visit Timaru for the wedding.

Miss W. M'Quilkan, who has been on the teaching staff of St. Hilda's College and who will be leaving in a few weeks' time for Oxford University, was entertained at a tea party in the Savoy this week by Form VB. Misses Jocelyn Tapley and Huia Parata were hostesses, and presented Miss M'Quilkan—who during her term of office at St. Hilda's greatly endeared herself to both girls and staff—with a school badge and a bouquet.

The Central branch of the League of Mothers held its monthly meeting in the Y.M.C.A. on Thursday afternoon when Mrs Aslin presided. The thought for the afternoon was "Home is the place of peace—and wherever a true wife comes, this home is always round her—home is wherever she is." (Ruskin.) The speaker for the afternoon was Mrs North, who gave an interesting talk of her trip through the Panama Canal to England, and her experiences in London and -irts of rural England. During the afternoon Mrs Black sang two solos. Mrs Merrington passed a vote of thanks to the speaker and soloist.

On Saturday evening last a bright gathering collected at the Waihola Hall to "tin-can" Mr Archie Sinclair and to welcome his bride (nee Miss Pera Kindley) to the district. Mrs Ruthven and Mr Harold Rickard sang a duet, and Mr Arthur Draper obliged the company with a song. Four of the local residents kept things going merrily. Just before supper, Mr J. Choake presented Mr and Mrs Archie Sinclair, on behalf of the local residents, with a Coleman lamp and tumbler set. and from fellow-workers, Mr Sinclair was presented with a marble and chromium clock. Mr Sinclair suitably replied.

On Wednesday evening Mr and Mrs Stuart Falconer entertained the members of the executive of the Otago Lawn Tennis Association at their new home in Eglinton • road. The evening was spent at progressive bridge, the prizes for which were won by Mr and Mrs W. R. Sinclair, with the unusual result of even scores. Later on, Mr and Mrs Falconer delighted their guests with several songs, after ■ Mr Sinclair,'president of the association, and Mr MMillan thanked the host and hostess for their hospitality. Mrs Roland Fulton and Mrs Ivo Carr gave an! enjoyable bridge party at the Otago Women's Club on Thursday evening as a farewell to Mrs K. L. Stewart, who will leave to-day to live in Christchurch. An informal little evening was held at the residence of Mrs H. Wood, 39 Elgin road, on Tuesday, the occasion being the coming-of-age of her daughter Ellen. Games were held in the early part of the evening. During supper, the guest of the evening was presented with two keys, one for the front door and one for the back. The cake, which was made by Mrs Wood, was tastefully decorated with 21 candles, which were blown out by the guest of the evening amid cheers and best wishes. Those present were Mr and Mrs Findlay. On Saturday last an enjoyable evening was spent at the Returned Soldiers' Association Hall, when Mr and Mrs W. Hawkins gave a party to celebrate the coming-of-age of their son Clive. The only lady travelling with the English "Soccer" team, which arrived in New Zealand on Wednesday evening for a six weeks' tour, is Mrs Wreford Brown, wife of the manager of the team. "I am so delighted to be in New Zealand," Mrs Brown said to a northern paper. "In England we hear a lot about New Zealand's beauty, and I have been looking forward to coming." In England, Mrs Brown said, wcfmen were very much interested in football. It was a game they did not play! There were, she believed a fewteams in existence, but no one took them seriously. They were, however extremely interested in the game, and where a few years ago a woman would never have been seen at matches, now they followed the game regularly Mrs Brown is especially keen to see the South Island, particularly Mount, Cook and the glaciers. She hopes to be back in Auckland in time for the race meeting.

Mrs T. A. Nicholson has returned to Invercargill from a visit to Dunedin. Miss Myrtle M'Kerrow is the guest of her parents, Mr and Mrs Andrew M'Kerrow. of Wyndham.

Mrs K. L. Stewart will leave to-day with her husband, Major Stewart, to take up her residence in Christchurch.

Hostesses for Mrs lan Mackillop this week have iricluded Mrs H. W. Bundle and Mrs J. A. Cook, both of whom gave bridge parties in her honour.

Miss E. Hunt, of Christchurch, who is on a short lecturing tour for the Theosophical Society, arrived from the south yesterday and is the guest of Mrs E. H. Fulton. Sunshine.

The annual meeting of the Domestic Servants' Union was held on Thursday in the Douglas Social Credit Hall, King street. A newspaper article was reaci dealing with the initiation and progress of the Danish Domestic Servants' Union, and hopes were expressed of New Zealand's being able to follow m its footsteps.

The Caversham branch of the Otago Home Economics Association had a good attendance of members and friends for its May meeting. The speaker was Miss Scarfe, of Messrs Brown, Ewing, and Co., who gave an instructive talk on " Knitting." Various stitches were shown, and a number of questions were asked, the members gaining much knowledge from these.

The debut of several new members at the Magneto Club's last social madp Miss E. Mee's production of A. A. Milne's "Wurzel Flummery" an interesting and notable performance. Mr Charles Bills, Miss Olga Nees Miss Margaret M'Bride, Mr Reginald Rielly, and Mr Peter Wilson took part, and presented a bright performance. Then followed the Misses Nees's presentation of Mabel Constandura's funny oneact "The Family Group." The parts were all excellently cast and acted in character, the costumes being very comical in their antiquated styles. MrStanley Mee, Miss Doris Nees, Miss Ann M'Alevey, Miss Molly Martin, Mr Hilary Ryan, and Miss Mary Henaghan were the players.
