A ROUND TRIP
Arthur Cadogan, of Muscatine, lowa, has travelled round the world for nothing—and been paid £IOO for it. Cadogan. aged 21, did it for a bet. "The trip took me 15 months," said Cadogan in an interview on his return to Los Angeles. He set out in October, 1935. Explaining how he accomplished his feat, he said: ' From California I ' hitch-hiked' across the continent to New York. From there I worked my way to Europe in a freighter as stoker." He claims to have visited most of the world's capitals during his journey. " I worked my way the whole trip.'' he added. " accepting food and lodging in return—but never money." Now he is on his way home to colled the i - eward of £IOO.
