PALMERSTON Saravatl Club The monthly meeting of the Sara ; vati Club was held in the Oddfellows Hall on Wednesday night, and a good audience of members were entertained by a programme of vocal and musical items. The programme consisted of a pianoforte duet, "Fan Dance (Boggetti), by Misses Brown and Mann; a vocal solo, " Thoughts Have Wings (Lisa Lehmann), by Mrs Sutherland: reading, " Mrs Beeton." bv Mrs Bortpn: a pianoforte solo, "Venetian Reverie, by Miss Kathleen Martin; a vocal duet, "Venetian Sonp." by Mesdames Low and Whittleston; a pianoforte solo. "Intermezzo" from Cavalleria Rusticana," by Miss Margaret Finnie; a recitation, "The River of Stars" (Alfred Noyes), by Miss Martin; a vocal solo, "Violets," by Mrs G. B. Smith: a pianoforte duet, "Poet and Peasant (Weber), by Misses Pickett and Sheat; a vocal solo, " If Thou Wert Blind," by Mrs Wedge, and a reading, "The Power of Music," from "The Merchant of Venice," by Mrs Jull. Sale of Work A very successful sale of work in aid of the Presbyterian Church funds was held in the Sunday school room on Wednesday last. A <good supply of cakes, vegetables, produce and needlework was soon disposed of to eager purchasers. During the evening there were competitions organised by the Rev. Johnston and Miss Doris Parkhill, which caused much amusement. Over £6O was taken at the hall.
