THE DUTCH ELECTIONS
NEW PARTY EMERGES
NATIONAL SOCIALISTS (United Press Association) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) AMSTERDAM, May 26. The general election passed off calmly, in contrast with the warmth of the campaign. A feature of the election was the emergence of the Dutch National Socialist Party on the German model, led by Dr Mussert, who expects to get 20 out of 100 seats in the Lower Chamber. Dr Colijn at present heads the Coalition with 65 supporters in the Chamber.
The two main issues of the election have been democracy, represented by Dr Colijn, versus Nazism, Communism, and rearmament. VICTORY FOR DR COLIJN NAZIS WIN ONLY FOUR SEATS AMSTERDAM, May 27. (Received May 27, at 11.15 p.m.) The general election resulted in a victory for Dr Colijn, whose party polled 40 per cent, more votes than in the 1933 election, whereas the Nazi Party lost 40 per cent, of its former support, winning only four seats.
