NEW INDUSTRY
ESTABLISHMENT IN DOMINION AUSTRALIAN COMPANY'S PLANS (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND, May 27. It is the intention of James Hardie, Ltd., an important Australian concern manufacturing asbestos sheeting known as "Fibrolite," td establish a large factory at Penrose for the manufacture of its products. The company has just purchased between five and six acres in Penrose for the site of the factory, which will cover a large area, and it proposes extensive operations, the industry being the first of its kind in the Dominion. The company expects to be operating before the end of the year, and it will provide employment for a large number of hands. Probably it will start with about 50 or 60 workmen, but the plans it has laid are likely to lead to a considerable increase in that number once the plant is in full operation. The, directors of the concern were recently in Auckland and made a close investigation of the' situation. Many of the company's products are used throughout the Dominion.
