UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO

ANNUAL GRADUATION CEREMONY SUCCESSFUL STUDENTS HONOURED The annual graduation ceremony, wherein this year's graduates of the University of Otago were invested with their degrees, was held in the Town Hall yesterday afternoon in the presence of a large audience. The proceedings were carried out with a dignity befitting the occasion, the small group of students in the audience behaving for the most part in an orderly manner. . . „, , The ceremony of conferring the degrees was conducted by the chancellor of the University (Mr W. J. Morrell), with whom were associated the Mayor (the Rev. E. T. Cox), the council and staff of the University, and Mr W. Downie Stewart, who delivered the graduation oration. After the chancellor and his associates had taken their place on the stage the University anthem was sung, the accompaniment being played on the organ by Dr V. E. Galway. At the request of the chancellor, those present stood in silence for a moment as a mark of sympathy with the relatives of A. K.
