FOUR-RINK CHAMPIONSHIP DUNEDIN WINS FINAL The final of the Four-rink Championship was played between the Dunedin and St. Kilda Clubs last evening on the Caledonian Club’s green, the game resulting in a win for Dunedin by 82 points to 80. The game actually resulted in a tie with 81) points to each club, the scoring of two points on an extra head giving Dunedin the victory Playing conditions were unpleasant. There was a fresh breeze throughout the game and at one stage a light shower fell. Despite the cold, however, there was a large attendance of spectators and the interest was maintained throughout, as at no stage was there any great difference between the points Dunedin held the advantage until the final stages, when St. Kilda went into the lead, Dunedin drawing level on the last head. The ending was probably the closest and most exciting ever experienced in the four-rink championship series. The championship has now been played 19 times, and Dunedin Club has been successful on no fewer than 11 occasions, Caledonian three. St. Kilda two, and St. Clair, Otago and Taieri one each. Last year, also, the Dunedin and St. Kilda Clubs competed in the final, St. Kilda being successful by two points after a closely contested game. At the conclusion of the game, the president of the Dunedin Centre, Mr J H. Hinton, presented the Holmes Feathers to Mr J. W Scurr. president of the Dunedin Club, and congratulated the rinks on their win. The Dunedin Club will also hold the Australian Tourists’ Clock for the year, A scoring board presented to the centre by Mr T. Smith was in use for the first time and proved of great assistance in keeping the spectators cognisant with the progress of play In the game between J. Hutchison (Dunedin) and W Walton (St. Kilda) the Dunedin rink secured nine points on the first five heads., St. Kilda failing to score. The lead was maintained throughout, the final score being 25—14 in favour of Dunedin. H. Gardiner (Dunedin) lost to G. Adess (St. Kilda) by six points At the eleventh head, Adess was five up and continued to hold the advantage. J. Dowland (St. Kilda) defeated W. Anderson (Dunedin) by two pdljnts. Dowland secured 12 points on the first six heads, but in the last stages Anderson pulled up well a 4 and a 5 on the seventeenth and nineteenth heads greatly improving his position. G. Nelson (Dunedin) lost to G. Claridge (St. Kilda) by one point. Nelson gained the initial advantage, but Claridge evened on the fifteenth. The final deciding head was played by this rink, Nelson gaining two points. The following are the results:— D. St. K

ADESS SHIELD COMPETITION ' SECOND ROUND The second round of the Adess Shield competition will be played on the St. Kilda and St. Clair greens on Monday, commencing at 5 p.m. If wet on Monday evening, the matches will be ; played on Wednesday at the same ; lime.
