Geerin —Oram At St. Mary’s Catholic Church, on Tuesday morning, the marriage was quietly celebrated between Sylvester L. Geerin, younger son of the late Mr and Mrs M. J. Geerin, of Belleknowes, and Betty Roslyn, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Norton Oram, of Highgate. The bride was attended by Miss Dorothy Hart, while Dr John Fulton acted as best man. The Rev. Father Hugh O’Neill officiated at the ceremony, at which nuptial mass was celebrated. a Ruston—Jenkins On the evening of January 27, St. Peter’s Church was the scene of the wedding of Doris Jean, only daughter of Mr and Mrs A. S. Jenkins, of Richardson street, St. Kilda, and Trevor William, elder son of Mr and Mrs W. B. Ruston, of Glen road. The Rev. J. Morland officiated. The bride wore a long flared gown of soft ivory satin, with large pleated sleeves, a cowl neck, caught at the shoulder with a spray of orange blossom, and a bodice finished at the back with pleated belt and row of small satin buttons. Her veil of silk embroidered net was held in place by a coronet of pearl orange blossom, and she carried a shower bouquet of roses, liles and maidenhair fern. She was attended by two bridesmaids, Misses Joyce Seddon and Gertrude Adam, who were dressed alike ;n pale pink floral gowns with pleated sleeves, rolled collars finished at the back with a row of small brown velvet buttons, brown velvet sashes and velvet shoes to tone. They wore brown crinoline picture hats, and carried shower bouquets of pink roses and maidenhair fern. The bridegroom was attended by Mr W. A. Ruston as best man and Mr T. H. Jory as groomsman. A reception was held at the Masonic Hall. Cargill road, where the guests were received bv the bride’s mother, who wore a black floral ensemble with hat to tone and carried a bouquet of autumn-tinted roses. Mrs Jenkins was assisted by Mrs W. B. Ruston. mother of the bridegroom, who wore a Marina blue ensemble with hat to match. Her bouquet consisted of red roses. After the wedding breakfast an enjoyable dance was held. grandmother of the bride, and Mrs F. Ruston, grandmother of the bridegroom. Later in the evening the bridal couple left by car, Mrs F. W. Ruston wearing a navy tailored costume, with a smart navy hat and accessories to tone, and a dark brown skunk stole. Prior to her wedding, the bride was the guest of honour at numerous parties, among the hostesses being Miss Joyce Seddon and Mesdames Murray, A. Jenkins and R. Strong. Melkle—Heads The Woodlands Street Methodist Church, Timaru, was well filled with relatives and friends on the occasion of the wedding of Hazel May, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Heads and Albert John, youngest son of Mr and Mrs A. Meikle, all of whom are residents of Timaru. The ceremony was performed by the Rev, Mr Blair and Mrs E. Osborne was organist. The bride’s wedding dress was a graceful gown of powder-blue crepe cloth with hat to match, and she carried a bouquet of gladioli. Miss Jean Heads attended her sister as bridesmaid and was attired in a lemon floral georgette frock with lilac trimmings and hat to match, and carried a bouquet of roses to tone with her frock. Mr W. Heads acted as best man. * After the ceremony a recention was held in the Orange Hall, where the mothers of both bride and bridegroom received a number of invited guests. Mrs Heads, mother of the bride, wore a brown floral frock with a brown coat and a brown hat relieved with orange. Mrs Meikle, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a black floral frock with a black coat and hat. When the newly-married couple left for their wedding tour, the bride wore a pink and brown suede costume with a brown hat relieved witn pink and accessories to tone.
