LEETO NOVICE CUP Good weather conditions prevailed for the opening of the Dunedin Gun Club’s season on Saturday afternoon. There was a good attendance of members, but the number of entries foi the Leeto Cup was disappointing. The Leeto Cup was presented to the club for annual competition among novices and non-members only, and is competed for on the “ gimcrack ” principle, that is, all competitors start on the limit (11 yards) and go back one yard for every break and forward one yard for a miss. In the Six-bird Eye-opener Handicap G. E. Turner, D. A. M'Leod, F.. M'Donald, H. Weir and W. Morland scored 6, E. P. Graham, S. F. Aburn, J. Paterson, C. Williams 5, W. R. Morland, T. Long. H. Barclay and R Graham 4. The Novice Handicap for the Leeto Cup was a nine-bird match, and was won by J. Paterson, with eight breaks (seven first barrels). He shot very well throughout the match missing only one bird and breaking his last bird from the 17 yards mark. H Barclay and A. Begg tied for second place with seven breaks each In the Nine-bird Handicap S. F. Aburn and C. Williams scored 9, E. P. Graham 8, W. R. Morland, W Morland and J. Edmond 7, R. Maxwell 6, R. M'Donald and D. A. M'Leod 5. The Four Pair Double-rise Handicap was won by S. F. Aburn, with 7 points, G. E. Turner, R. M'Donald, R. Stewart and W. R. Morland scoring 6, C. Williams 5, R, Maxwell 4 and D. A. M'Leod 3. Mr A. Adamson was the referee. The following is the result of the 18-bird handicap:—
