SUPREME COURT

COORY FOUND GUILTY REMANDED FOR SENTENCE i The case in which John Coory was charged with attempted breaking and entering of the premises of Shillings, Ltd., by night was concluded in the Supreme Court on Saturday before his Honor, Mr Justice Kennedy. After a retirement of 13 minutes the jury returned with a verdict of guilty, and the accused was remanded for sentence until tomorrow morning. The case for the Crown was conducted by Mr H. S. Adams (Acting Crown Prosecutor), and Mr J. G. Warrington appeared for the accused. When the court resumed on Saturday morning Coory was subjected to a searching cross-examination by the counsel for the prosecution, and he was followed in the witness box by Paul Hanna, Hugh Healey, Constantine Soumaris, Joseph Henry Miller and Charles Henry Sturgeon, who gave evidence for the defence along the lines of that given by them in the Lower Court. The defence was an alibi by which the accused sought to show that he could not have been in the locality at the time when a man was seen on the roof of the premises of Shillings, Ltd. During the morning the jurymen, accompanied by the sheriff, left the court to inspect the locality of the crime, and on their return the court was addressed by counsel. After the judge had summed up, the jury retired at 1.5 p.m., returning at 1.18 with a verdict of guilty. PRISONERS SENTENCED (Per United Press Association* PALMERSTON N„ Feb. 6.
