THE DUNEDIN CUP

The three horses that filled the places in the Midsummer Handicap at Riccarton on Saturday—Davolo. Wild Chase and Queen of Song—are engaged in the Dunedin Cup. to be run at Wingatui on Thursday. Tunneller was not started on Saturday, but will go to the post on Thursday, and the race should be one of the best ever seen on the course. Another race that is arousing great interest is the Publicans’ Handicap, principally because of the meeting of two brilliant gallopers in Gold Boa and Paper Slipper.

VINTAGE DESTROYED

(Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Feb. 7. In the Midsummer Handicap at Riccarton yesterday the well-known horse Vintage struck a rail and as the result of breaking his near hind leg, had to be destroyed.
