SURF LIFE-SAVING

AUSTRALIAN TEAM WELCOMED (Per United Press* Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 5. The Australian surf life-saving team arrived from Auckland this morning and was welcomed in Parliament House by the Prime Minister (Mr M J. Savage). Replying. Mr Cameron (the manager of the teain) mentioned that since the inauguration of the movement 33,000 lives had been saved on Australian beaches, and last season alone 3005 had been rescued. Mr Coira (president of the New Zealand Surf Life-saving Association) said the occasion was a red-letter one, as it was the first time that a life-saving team from one country had visited another. . . . . The championsmps will take place on Lvall Bay Beach on February 13 and 14.
