The fear that the mechanisation of the extensive aerodrome construction work at New Plymouth would seriously reduce the number of unemployment relief men required for the work has alarmed the large number of men employed. The New Plymouth Borough Council communicated with the Public Works Department, and at a special meeting of the council correspondence on the subject was tabled. A promise was received that the council would have an opportunity to express its opinions before any decision was made.
