Ministerial The Attorney-general (Mr H. G. R. Mason), accompanied by Mrs Mason, arrived in Dunedin yesterday from the north, and will leave for Invercargill by car this morning. The Minister is visiting the south on departmental business, and has inspected several courthouses. While in Invercargill he will inspect the Borstal Institution there.

Dr Percy Cameron left on his return to Wellington by the mid-day express yesterday. Mr N. S. Slyfield was a passenger for Wellington by the through express y< Mr r T\ y Lindsay Sinks, C.M.G., F.R., Hist.S., arrived in Dunedin from the north last night. Bishop Fitchett announces that the Rev. S. A. G. Hurd, vicar of Dunstan, has been appointed vicar of the parish of Gladstone, Invercargill. Dr Darcy Moir and Mrs Moir left by the through express yesterday for Lyttelton, where they will join the Doric Star. Dr Moir proposes to carry out post-graduate study in London. Captain G., R. Captain Thompson, who has been in Auckland for four years, will be replaced by Adjutant Mahaffle, Dunedin. The staff of the Telegraph Office assembled a few days ago to bid farewell to Mr C. E. Tyrrell, supervisor, on the occasion of his retirement after 40 years’ service. To mark the event the staff provided a suitable memento, which was presented by the Chief Postmaster (Mr N. R. MTsaac). Several officers spoke of their long association with Mr Tyrrell, who made a suitable reply. The Union Airways liner Karoro left the Taieri airport at 8.45 yesterday morning for Christchurch, Blenheim, and Palmerston North with Mrs D. Dallas for Wellington. The Korimako arrived from the north at 12.45 p.m. with Miss Z. Ashcroft from Palmerston North, Miss D. Paterson and Mr W. J. Gillespie from Christchurch Now in Auckland js the guest of his son, Lieutenant-commander R. Nisbet, is Paymaster-commander Percy Nisbet, late R.N.V.R., V.D. who recently arrived from England. Paymastercommander Nisbet, who is aged 82. has had a remarkable career and was prominently associated with the organisation of the naval volunteer movement. He has rlso taken a prominent part in various yachting organisations in England and was founder and commodore of the British Canoe Association. The fact that at 63 he was awarded a certificate from the Royal Humane Society for jumping into the Thames ‘ fully clothed and rescuing a petty officer from drowning and that at 71 years he joined the Surrey Special Constabulary, serving until a year ago, sufficiently emphasises Paymaster-commander Nisbet’s virility.
