PLUNKET SHIELD
CANTERBURY WINS ON FIRST INNINGS RAIN PREVENTS FURTHER PLAY (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH. Jan. 5. Incessant heavy rain made play impossible in the Plunket Shield match between Canterbury and Wellington to-day. Canterbury, therefore, won on the first innings. Both matches played at Christchurch this summer have been interfered with by rain. In the first rain gave Canterbury a lucky first innings win over Auckland, and in the second Canterbury was deprived of the chance‘of forcing an outright win against Wellington.
