ROYAL MALE CHOIR

With a well varied programme the 195th concert of the Royal Dunedin Male Choir, to be held to-night in His Majesty's Theatre, promises to be cine of the best given by this organisatiion this year. Four new part songs and others better known, all Worthy of the choir, will be presented. These latter include the "Sailors' Chorus" from Wagner's "Flying Dutchman," a song with an easy rhythm and bold accents; a love song of Dr Blow's (arranged by Arnold Williams), "The Self Banished," which with its. soft rendering contrasts well with its companion, " The Road to the Sea " (Sturt Young), a breezy part song recently acquired by gift. Another popular bracket of Granger's complete the choir's offering in the first part of the programme, and these songs are accompanied by two pianos, to be played by Miss Ruth Moore and Mr Colin Oliver. These are "The Widow's Party," from "Barrack-room Ballads," and "The Hunter in His C&YQ6T Myle's B. Foster has written a lovely cantata, "An Ode to Music," in which Mr Rowland W. Dunbar will be heard in the tenor role. A song by Juagst after ft Swedish melody and a festival carol complete the work by the choir. The public should appreciate another opportunity of hearing Miss Bertha Rawlinson, Mus. Bac, who was successful in the recent competitions in Australia. A treble, Master Herbert Claridge, a tenor, Mr W. E. Mills, and a bass, Mr J. Paterson, L.C.S.M., are the other soloists. - The instrumentalist is Miss Julia Holmes, violinist, who will be assisted at the piano by Miss Muriel Ironside, FT.C.L. The popular pianists, Miss Ruth Moore and Miss Molly Runnerstrum (F.T.C.L. and L.R.S.M.'s) are also an added attraction. Booking is at Begg's.
