TRADE COMMISSIONERS
NEW APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 3. Advice has been received by Mr C. M. Croft, Canadian Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, of his appointment as commercial secretary to the Canadian Legation in Tokio. His successor in New Zealand will be Mr W. F. Bull, at present Canadian Trade Commissioner in Trinidad. Mr Croft has been stationed in New Zealand for 13 years. He arrived in 1923 to take the position of assistant-trade commissioner, and in the following year he succeeded Mr W. A. Beddoe as commissioner. Since h ; s appointment he has been to Canada twice, and under the system which the Canadian Government follows to keep its commissioners in touch with Canadian industrial and commercial conditions he was due to visit Canada again in February. This course will still be followed. Mr Croft will leave New Zealand in February and will go to Canada before sailing for Japan. Another appointment to the New Zealand office which has been announced is that of Mr R. P. Bower as assistant-trade commissioner in succession to Mr H. L. E. Priestman, who will leave New Zealand next Wednesday to take up the position of assistant-Canadian trade commissioner at Sydney. Mr Bower has been acting-trade commissioner in Java.
