BAND FOR CABARET
ENGAGEMENT OF AUSTRALIANS A BOYCOTT THREATENED (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 3. A further development in connection with the stand taken by the Musicians' Union as a protest against a band from Australia playing in a city establishment was a deputation of union secretaries, which waited on the management and said that if the dispute was not satisfactorily settled the union would create a boycott. The Australians were informed that if they appear to fulfil the engagement they will be blacklisted, and the Australian Musicians' Union informed. DEFINITE ACTION MANAGEMENT CLOSES CABARET STAFF PAID OFF (Per United Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 3. The Auckland cabaret involved in the dispute regarding the employment of an Australian band was closed tonight and the management stated that it would not be reopened. Over 20 waiters and members of the kitchen staff were given the necessary wages in lieu of notice. The five musicians involved were given notice a week ago. The management issued a statement claiming that it had taken every possible step to reach a fair solution.
