An examiner in flrst aid in Timaru received an ingenious reply to a question one day recently. The question was- "What is a skeleton and its uses, and the reply was, "A skeleton is a man with the meat off." "It is very hard to tell when a volcano is active," said Professor Howel Williams, of the University of California, in an address' in Wellington on "Some Characteristics of Volcanoes. " Take Ngauruhoe, for instance. Mayb2 it is only having a refreshing sleep before kicking off the bedclothes, as it were."
