At the Triumph Lodge No, 9 fortnightly meeting there was a large number of members present. The W.M. Bro. John Cosgrove presided and was ably assisted by D.M. Bro. J. L. Pepperell and P.M. Bro. James Weir. The chaplain, Sister Mathewson, conducted the opening service. The business of the evening was quickly disposed of and the lodge was then opened to the juveniles to entertain the adult members. There was a good attendance of parents and friends. P.M. Bro. Hellyer extended a cordial welcome to all and hoped that they would enjoy the entertainment, and that the parents-would see for themselves that the children were well cared for. The programme was entirely by the juveniles. The following contributed:—Duet. Sisters Stanaway: recitation, Sister Shirley Froggatt; song, Sister Trainer; duet Sisters Hay and Tall; Maori haka— Bros. Weir, Shrubsole and Facoory; recitation, Bro. Farquharson; song, Sister Hay, “Little Gipsy Tea Room”; tap dance, Sister Madden; recitation, Rawera Swanson; song, Heather Douglas; tap dance, Lola Lee; recitation, Lily Stanaway; piano solo, Marjory Rewe; recitation, Bro. Shrubsole; tap dance, Sister Trainer; duet, Heather and Joan Douglas; piano solo. Shirley Lysaght. Bro.' Norman returned his thanks to the W.M., Bro. Cosgrove, for the opportunity which his lodge had given them, and for the use of the hall, also, to all their parents, for their attendance. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Sisters Devlin and Douglas for their services at the piano. The fortnightly meeting of Valley True Blue Lodge was held on Tuesday, D.M. Bro. Strachan presiding over a good attendance of members. Apologies were received from W.M. Bro. Campbell and J.E. Bro. Henderson. Two candidates were proposed for membership. Arrangements were put in hand for the children’s annual treat, which will be held early in December, P.M. Bro. Drysdale reported on the recent meeting of the U.F.S. Council, and his report was adopted. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded P.M. .Bro. Jackson, of Triumph, who has' not visited the lodge for some time. Bro. Jackson suitably responded. After business had been concluded, members paid a visit to Pride of Valley Ladies’ Lodge.

W. Mist, Sis. Morgan presided over the regular meeting of Pride of Valley Ladies’ Lodge on Tuesday, the attendance of members being good. It was decided to entertain No. 11 Lodge on December 1, and as this is the last' social function for the year a pleasant evening should be assured. The children’s treat was left in the hands of the combined Social Committee, which is sparing no trouble to bring it up to the standard of previous years. Towards the close of the meeting,the lodge was visited by D.M. Bro. Strachan, officers and members of Valley True Blue, and P.M. Bro. Jackson, of Triumph No. 9. A vote of thanks was accorded the visitors. D.M. Bro. Strachan, in responding, expressed the pleasure of the lodge in being able to make a return visit. A social hour was spent after the lodge closed. True Blue Juveniles held the fortnightly meeting on Tuesday, W.M. Bro. Hay presiding. A rehearsal for the ritual competition was held, and a further stage of the superintendents’ competition got through. Visitors included the W. Mist., officers and members of Hope of Valley Juveniles, who were warmly welcomed. An enjoyable time was spent in games under the superintendents. Hope of Valley Girls Juveniles held a meeting on Tuesday, W. Mist. Sis. Laing presiding over a good attendance of members. Following a discussion on the ritual competition on November 26. the lodge adjourned, and members visited True Blue Juveniles.
