OLIVE CAMPBELL RECITAL

AN ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME Well known as she is to concertgoers as a pianist of unusual parts, it is readily understandable that the appearance of Mrs Olive Campbell in a pianoforte recital at Begg’s concert chamber this evening is an event to which music lovers are looking forward with much interest. The works chosen for performance include a judicious selection of both classic and modern compositions. The programme is an exacting one for the interpreter, but at Mrs Campbell’s experienced hands a more than competent exposition is assured. In the very modern sonata for two pianos by the British composer, Arnold Bax, Mrs Campbell will have the assistance of Miss Mary Frazer. Other items include the powerful Fantaisie in F minor of Chopin—all too seldom heard on the concert platform; Theme and Variations by Glazounov; “ The Erl King” (Schubert-Liszt), and works by Bach, Weber, Debussy, and Rubinstein. Students can hardly fail to appreciate that a musical opportunity is afforded them.
