GLEN LEITH GARDEN PARTY
The secluded beauty and usual quiet of Glen Leith College gave place yesterday to considerable activity as a large party of voluntary workers prepared for the annual garden party to be held this afternoon. Stalls, tea rooms and refreshment booths have been erected beneath the trees and in the building and at these the large assortment of gifts comprising cakes, sweets, produce, sewn and fancy goods, etc., will be offered to-day Around the grounds are all sorts of competitions and side-shows, and at frequent intervals temporary notices have been erected to direct visitors to the various spots of interest, bush tracks, swimming pool, kauri walk, and tree-fern gullies. A powerful amplifier has been installed which is to be used to broadcast through the grounds a special programme of music arranged by Miss Ruth Sell. Hundreds of people look upon this function as a regular annual outing, attractive and inexpensive, and an opportunity to explore something more of the rare beauty of this extensive property
