CHARITABLE AMERICANS
Between £300,000,000 and £400,000,000 is contributed annually to charities by people in the United States, according to the latest issue of The Index, a statistical magazine. Contributions to churches take first place in philanthropy. and according to the paper more than £60,000,000 was given to the principal Protestant Church organisations during 1935. Apart from directgrants from living donors. 20 leading foundations, with capital funds aggregating £140,335,200, awarded grants during 1934 amounting to £6,842,000.
