ST. MORITZ SKATERS

One of the most popular sections at the Oamaru Show will be side-show exhibits. This year a special attraction will be the clever and daring act presented by the St. Moritz Skaters. Professor Corthesy, the principal in the act, has a great reputation as a skater. His partner, who wears a captivating smile regardless of the danger of the act, is a graceful skater, and the combination performs with perfect abandonment some thrilling feats. The raised platform upon which the performance takes place is only 12 feet by 12 feet, and the amazing rate at which they swing round convinces the onlooker that a mishap would mean a serious accident to the performers. The skaters give an exhibition of strength and speed, an act of grace and beauty, in which the woman partner. Miss Vera Paravieinl, excels. Lithe of limb, flexible of body, she executes figures of intricacy that are wonderful. Professor Corthesy, the inventor of the act, has been skating since the age of four. During his varied career he has managed some of the best-known skating rinks in the world, such as the Pavilion de Sports, Montreaux, and the Glion Ice Rink at Les Axentxs, and has acted as skating instructor to royalty. Among his pupils were King Boris 6f Bulgaria and King Alexander of Serbia. He appeared in exhibitions before the late Czar of Russia and the former Kaiser of Germany, at Potsdam
