Germany is trying to make her wild animals “ traffic-conscious.” At places where main motor highways pass through woods inhabited by large numbers of deer and other wild animals, subways are to be built. It is hoped that the animals will learn to use these instead of straying across the road and causing numerous accidents. An initial experiment is now being carried out in the Ruhr woods, near Hoefcler.
