Adventures in Libel and Slander,” by Morris L. Ernst and Alexander Lindley. Mr Ernst is described as “ the Sir Patrick Hastings of American literary circles.” Directly there is legal trouble about a book (the publishers state), sooner or later the public learn that Mr Ernst is undertaking the defence. He has been connected with such famous cases as the charge of obscenity against Radclyffe Hall’s “The Well of Loneliness” (the book, though still banned in England has, largely owing to the efforts of Mr Ernst, been judged free of all blame in the United States), and has, at various times, defended Dr Marie Stopes, James Joyce, and Havelock Ellis. New Zealand Sketches Due for publication this month by Messrs Simpson and Williams, Christchurch, is “Murphy's Moa,” a collection of humorous sketches by Pat Lawlor. The illustrations are provided by Gordon Minhinnick and Fred Alexander.
