ASSOCIATED CHAMBERS

A NEW CONSTITUTION DRAFTING COMMITTEE APPOINTED (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 20. A motion to set up a committee to draft a new constitution for the Associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand was unanimously adopted at the annual meeting. The decision is the outcome of aconflict between the Canterbury Chamber and the Dominion Executive, and the Canterbury Chamber, after expressing regret for the incident, expressed the view that the constitution of the Dominion body should be simplified. The work of the committee is to be completed by February 28, and a special conference, to which the constitution will be submitted, was fixed for not later than May 31. OFFICE-BEARERS ELECTED Office-bearers were elected as follows:—President, Mr M. G. C. M’Caul: vice-president, Mr A. o. Lunn; South Island representatives on the executive—Messrs C. G. Tapley (Invercargill), G. D Virtue (South Canterbury), M. S. Myers (Dunedin), V. E. Hamilton (Canterbury): North Island representatives—Messrs A, M. Seaman (Auckland), G. Fraser (Taranaki), and A. S. Burgess (Wanganui); Wellington members on the executive— Messrs H. Anderson. F. H. Bass. J. Halligan. D. J. M’Gowan. J. C. Morrison. S. Paterson, and C. A. L. Treadwell. Mr Francis was elected a vice-pre-sident of the Associated Chambers of Commerce of the British Empire.
