THE DAIRY INDUSTRY
LEVY ON PRODUCERS A REDUCTION SOUGHT (Per United Press Association) PALMERSTON N., Oct. 15. While not desiring the Dairy Board to be abolished, the Manawatu and West Coast Dairy Companies' Association believes that in view of the lessened amount of work it is now doing the amount of the levy made on producers should be reduced, and consideration given to a reduction in the expenses. At a meeting of the executive of the association a resolution to this effect was carried to be forwardeo" to the Minister of Agriculture <Mr W Lee Martin). " It would be a gi-eat mistake to put he bo?rd out of existence," the chairman (Mr S. A. Broadbelt) stated " There has got to be a link between 'he producers and the Government," He added that the levy was now only half what it was the last time, and that the board undoubtedly would put its funds to good use.
