Asher, Lyair Bay. recently. Mr Asher unearthod the pistol while digging in a property at Lyall,Bay. Altnough the pistol has obviously been in the ground for a very long time, all the metal parts are still distinguishable. Unfortunately, there is no manufacturer's name nor any indication as to what type of pistol it was or where it came from. It is considered almost certain to be of English manufacture and to have been made between 1835 and 1840. It was fired by a percussion cap, and probably had a very small wooden butt. Experts did not consider it to be a military firearm, but more of a " boudoir " or duelling pistol. Grandism (3004): The name Grand Hotel on any bottle is your assurance of quality.
