ASSOCIATION'S ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Otago Centre of the Piping and Dancing Association of New Zealand was held on Monday night, when the president, Mr Albert Wheeler, presided over an excellent attendance of members. Moving the adoption of the annual report and balance sheet, the president said it gave him great pleasure to reEort to xhe record attendance of memers that the society had made good progress during the past year and members could look forward for a very successful season. The competitions in June last had been very successful, having been well attended by the public, and the receipts for this annual gathering were far in excess of the previous year. The Scottish concert held had also been well supported The entries at the annual festival had shown a * big increase and this, he thought, augured well for the future. Executive members had worked in harmony and as president of the Council of Dunedin Scottish Societies he was pleased to say that the Piping and Dancing Association was held in high regard by the other societies of Dunedin. It was very pleasing, he continued, that the other societies realised that the Piping and Dancing Association was a competitive body and deserved the fullest support. Seconding the motion, Mr J. L. Thomson endorsed the president's i>emarks and stated that it was gratifying to feel that although the association had had a number of difficult years it was now a progressive body and commanded the respect of all the Scottish organisations. Members, he felt sure, could look forward to a very successful year.—The motion was carried unanimously. The election of office-bearers resulted:—Patrons, Sir Charles Statham and Dr D. G. Thomson was elected a life vice-president. It was resolved that in future the financial year should end on July 31, and the annual meeting should be held by the middle of September.
