Football The Ida Valley football team completed a very successful season last Saturday ' by winning the Tuapeka tournament at Roxburgh. This team gave a finished display of football, winning the semi-final and final by 13 and 15 points to nil. They were also successful at the Ranfurly tournament. The senior fifteen has held the White Horse Cup, open to teams from Vincent and Maniototo counties, and the Richard Young banner," and is premier in the county flag fixtures. This is an achievement the club has reason to be proud of, and one which the country selectors may take note of, as there are at least two outstanding players. CLYDE Carnival Dance The Public Works Department employees held an enjoyable fancy dress dance on Friday night. Prizes were given for children and adults in costume, W. Thomson and L. Stevens securing the children's prizes, and Misses M. Lindsay and H. Wood (bride and bridegroom) the adults. Miss Phillpot and Mr Tonlinson were second, and Miss Hastie was also a prize-winner. There was a good attendance. Children's Dance The children of St. Michael's Anglican Church were entertained in the hall on Saturday afternoon, the occasion being part of the patronal festival. Euchre Winners at last week's card tournament were Mr W. K. George and Mrs Hanning. As in past years, those attending are the old loyal supporters of the club. The Weather The past week has been a very windy one, practically every day, and the effects can be seen in garden and orchard. Personal An interesting visitor to Clyde on Sunday was Mr Gordon Hope, from the Homer tunnel, carrying with him a number of photographs of the camp and avalanches. CLYDEVALE Clydevale Drama Group The Clydevale Drama Group's entertainment was staged on October 25 before a large and enthusiastic audience That the undertaking was well worth the effort was proved, for the programme was an outstanding success. Praise is due to those responsible for the stage management, as there was no long wait between plays, and the lighting was excellent. The programme opened with "A Cup of Tea" (by Mrs Goulter), a bright,

modern comedy. The following was the cast:—Mrs Sanders, Miss C. May, and Messrs Cooksley, Phillips, and Blair. The players were well chosen, and the audience thoroughly enjoyed the brightness and humour of the actors. The producer was Miss K. Mowat. "There is No Return" (by Eric Bradwell) was a highly dramatic play, dealing with, the aftermath of the war, and produced some fine acting, the attention of the audience being held from beginning to end. Cast:—Misses Chapman-Cohen and Mowat and Messrs Mowat, Gordon, Miller, and Garcia Miller. Mrs Sanders was the producer. " The Captain " (by Morton Howard), a sensation comedy, found instant favour with the audience, especially among the younger generation, the climax being effective. Cast:— Messrs H. Cooksley, A. Phillips, and R. Blair. Producer, Mr Garcia Miller. In the last play, "Beauty for Sale'' the scene was a beauty parlour of 100 years ago. The frocking was pretty and colourful, and combined with the furnishings of the stage made a charming setting. Cast:—Mrs Cooksley, Misses C. May, E. Dunlop, K. Mowat, Chapman-Cohen, and B. Dunlop. The producer was Mrs Sanders.
