A DELAYED DEGREE

Washington and Lee College, Virginia, United States of America, has decided to bestow a degree earned 38 years ago by Colonel Warren W. Wnitside. Colonel Whitside entered the university in 1894, and left in May of his senior year to take part in the Spanish-American War. When the college faculty learned this spring of the circumstances which had prevented the awarding of his bachelor of science degree in 1898 it was decided by a unanimous vote to award Colonel Whitside the degree, with special attainments in engineering, as of June, 1898
