ALEXANDER MINES Alexander Mines, Ltd.. report that the return from the month of September was as follows:—Battery department: 510 tons crushed for 3140 z 9dwt of melted gold. Cyanide department: 315 tons of sand treated for 750 z 18dwt of bullion. The total estimated value is £2613. In addition, 12.3 tons of concentrates were saved, valued at £351. In estimating the above values gold has been taken at 140 s a fine ounce. MATAKI DIVIDEND The Stock Exchange Association has received a telegram that the Mataki Company has declared a dividend of Id, payable on October 14. WAITAHU RETURN Messrs W. A. Mitson and Co., seci'etaries of the Waitahu Gold Mining Company, Ltd., report that 520 z 6dwt have been won from a further partial wash-up of No. 9 paddock, for 27 shifts of eight hours each. The previous wash-up was on September 21. This makes a total of 970 z 6dwt from this paddock. OKARITO RETURN Messrs W. A. Mitson and Co., secretaries of the Okarito Five Mile Beach Gold Dredging Company, Ltd., report that the wash-up for the week ended on Saturday last was 17oz 7dwt for 132 hours' dredging. CENTRAL SHOTOVER The Central Shotover Gold Mining Company, Ltd., had a wash-up during the week-end, when the gold secured turned the scale at 120 oz. This represents about four weeks' work, making a total of 800 oz for the operations of the past 13 months. PRICE OF FLOUR INCREASE TO BAKERS (Special to Daily Times) AUCKLAND, Oct. 5. The price of sack flour has been raised by 3s 6d a ton as from to-day, making the new value £l3 15s 6d a ton, according to an announcement made, by the flour section of the Wheat Committee. The increase is being made on 2001 b sacks. There will be no increase in the price to the public either for flour or bread as the agreement is purely betwen the Wheat Committee and the bakers.
