ANDERSON'S BAY SCHOOL
ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS The seventy-eighth anniversary reunion celebrations conducted by the Anderson's Bay School Expupils' Association were concluded yesterday when .; memorial tablet was unveiled at the school in the afternoon and a dance was held in the evening. Over 300 ex-pupils of the school as well as senior scholars were present at the afternoor. function when Mr T. Hildreth, of Wellington, who is the president of the association, handed over to the School Committee the brass tablet containing a roll of honour of nearly 150 ex-pupils of the school who served in the Great War. Mr J. C. H. Somerville (chairman of the School Committee), who presided at the function, accepted th* tablet on behalf of the School Committee. Mr J. G. Jeffery, a prominent expupil of the school, delivered an appropriate address in which he spoke of the great sacrifice made by the men in the Great War and stressed the necessity for a more adequate defence force in the Dominion. Mr T. W. R. Coutts, who was headmaster at the Anderson's Bay School throughout the war, also spoke. The religious portion of the function was conducted by the Rev. G. H. Jupp. In the evening an enjoyable dance was held, bringing the celebrations to a successful conclusion.
