CHRISTCHURCH AERODROME

EARLY COMMENCEMENT OF WORK COST ESTIMATED AT £36,000 (Per United Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 5. A decision to commence the construction of the city aerodrome at Harewood as soon as possible was made at a special meeting of the City Council to-night. The Works Committee was authorised to complete arrangements with the Government on the basis of the offer of a subsidy of £ for £ on the labour cost of formation. According to a statement made by the Mayor, the total cost to the council will be about £30,000. In addition, it is estimated that the Government subsidy will be £6700.
