BUS SERVICES
PASSENGER LICENCES GRANTED Applications for /passenger bus service licences were heard by the No. 4 Transport Licensing Authority (Mr V. Raines) yesterday. The applications of the Southland News Company, Ltd., for a licence to operate on the Queenstown-lnvercar-gill route and the Mount Cook Tourist Company, Ltd., in respect of the Queenstown-Lumsden route, were withdrawn, and the remaining applications were made by the Minister of Railways, for whom Mr H. L. Gibson appeared. The Minister was granted licences to operate bus services on the following routes: —Queenstown-Lums-; den-Eglinton Valley, QueenstownKingston, Queenstown-Gore via Kingston and Lumsden, and QueenstownInvercargill. In respect of the Queenstown-Kingston route, the Hail • ways Department was granted the power to suspend the daily bus service and substitute a steamer service when necessary, a condition being made thai due notice of the change should be given.
