FORESTERS
The fortnightly meeting of Court Pride of the Leith was held on Wednesday last, when there was a large attendance of members. The C.R., Bro. T. Safey, occupied the chair. The meeting opened in mourning in memory of P.C.R. Bro. J. Abbott. Letters of sympathy with the court in the loss of the late Bro. Abbott were received lrom Courts St. Andrews and Woodlands Pride, and from Bro. D. M. Miller (1.0.0. F.). Invitations were accepted from Courts Excelsior and Enterprise, and a team was selected to take part in the 500 card tournament arranged by Court St. Andrews. The secretary gave some interesting information from the last official directory of the Order, which showed that the court still occupied the nineteenth highest place in the world. Official visits were received from Courts St. Andrews. Little John, King Edward's Pride. Woodlands Pride and Enterprise. The resignation of the assistant secretary, Bro. Howie, was accepted with regret. The visitors were welcomed by the C.R., and representatives from the visiting courts replied to the toast. During the meeting one new member was admitted, and the nominations of seven candidates were received. After the close of business a Scotch evening was held. Music was contributed by a fine orchestra under the baton of Bro. R. H. Kerr, who also gave violin solos suitable to the occasion. Items were also given by Mr A. Bonar, Mr G. Kerr, Miss C. Murray, and national dances by Miss Marshall. The piper was Mr Crichtoil. The special feature of the evening was Iho advent of the haggis, which was preceded bv the piper and was received with all the honours. The immortal address to the haegis was ren- < dered by P.D.C.R. Bro. C. C. Robertson, and opportunity was then given to many to be initiated into the national dish of Scotland. At the fortnightly meeting of Court King Edward's Pride, held last Thursday, C.R. Bro. F. Bartlett presided over a good attendance of members. Invitations from Courts St. Andrews. Excelsior and Pride of Green Island were accented. Two new members were admitted with the usual ceremonies. The C.R. welcomed the iuHges of the efficiency competition, P.C.R.'s Bros. Nelson and Walton, and these members dealt with a number of intercstiiv points raised by the memhers. The judges were thanked for (heir services, and accorded the usual honours. After the meeting a dance was held.
