DEPARTMENT'S ANNUAL REPORT (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, August 19. The annual report of the Lands and Deeds Department for the year 1935-36, which was tabled in the House of Representatives to-day, shows that the registration business increased substantially in the number of instruments registered and in amount of fees received during the year. The three principal items of business conducted by the Department—instruments, searches and fees—all show considerable increases over any of the figures for the preceding four years. The total amount of money remaining secured by mortgage under the Land Transfer Act at the end of the year covered bv the report was £296,538,241. During the year 18,582 mortgages, representing a total value of £ 17,680,313, were released.
