MAN WHO SAVED KAISER
Sir Archibald Hunter, the man who, by risking his own life, saved the ex-Kaiser from serious injury, if not death, died recently in London, He was 79 years of age. Some years before the war, the then German Emperor was visiting Scotland. His train was late, and the horses in the carriage awaiting him grew restive. Just as the Emperor was stepping into the carriage, one of the horses bolted. General Hunter, who was in command of the guard of honour, dashed forward, seized the reins and stopped the horse's rush. The ex-Kaiser always remembered Sir Archibald's brave act, and, until the war, regularly sent him an invitation to attend the German Army manoeuvres as his personal guest.
