TOURING FARMERS

PARTY FOR SOUTH AUSTRALIA OFFICIAL GOVERNMENT FAREWELL (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 18. A party of 38 farmers and farmers’ wives who left for Sydney by the Makura this afternoon to be present at the South Australian Centenary celebrations was tendered a farewell by representatives of the Government at a luncheon. The Minister in Charge of the Tourist and Publicity Department (Mr F. Langstone) said he was pleased that the first party organised to visit Australia was a party of farmers. The Government was sponsoring the arrangement, and the more reciprocal visits that could be arranged the better it would be pleased. The Tourist Department had organised the tour. Before the members of the party returned to New Zealand they would all be good friends and would strengthen the bonds of friendship between the Dominion and the Commonwealth.
